Liposuction:
Fat aspiration from localized fat deposits (lfd) is the ideal technique to improve
body contour in certain areas. Through small incisions large volume of fat cells
can be aspirated and since fat cells do not regenerate the results are permanent.
Loose skin compromises the results and you have to know that liposuction is
not a weight reduction technique and cellulite cannot be affected. For minor
lfds local anaesthesia is enough but for large volumes intravenous sedation
or general anaesthesia is preferred. Hospitalization is for one night or less
and the recovery time is a couple of days. Patient is mobilized early. Some
swelling and bruising is expected depending on the extension of the procedure.
All these start to resolve a week after the operation and one month postoperatively
60-70% of the results are present.
Gynecomastia: Breast gland enlargement in
male patients is not so uncommon. It starts during puberty and usually regress
in teenage. If it persists after the age of 17-18 years old it can be corrected
surgically by subcutaneous mastectomy through a small periareolar incision.
If the breast enlargement is more fatty than glandular then liposuction alone
is adequate treatment.
Abdominovlastv-Tummy Tuck: Abdominoplasty
or Tummy-Tuck removes skin and fat from the abdomen. Intemal suturing and plication
tighten abdominal muscles and fascias. Repositioning of the umbilicus is usually
necessary. Simultaneous liposuction from lateral abdominal walls enhances the
waist contouring. For cases with minor looseness Mini Abdominoplasty with out
umbilicus removing is adequate treatment. The majority of the distressing striaes
are removed since they are included in the lower abdominal skin, which is excised.
Thigh lift- Tanga lift: Thigh lift tightens
the upper thighs by skin and fat excision from the medial area. Tanga lift tightens
the flaccid buttock and positions the scars very closed to the midline so they
are easily covered even by tanga slip. For young patients where scars are of
more importance than in elders strong indication is needed in order to perform
these operations.
Patients have to stay in the hospital for one or two days and they need about
10 to 15 days for recovery. A pressure garment should be applied for one month
postoperatively.
